No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus
If my heart could tell a story.
If my life would sing a song.
If I have a testimony.
If I have anything at all.
No one ever cared for me like Jesus.
His faithful hand has held me all this way.
And when I’m old and grey
and all my days are numbered on the earth,
let it be known,
in You alone
my joy was found.
I count it a great joy and honor to have written 11 Selah newsletters for you this year. Writing bits of my story for you, I pray, has made you feel seen, encouraged, a little less alone, or inspired to pursue the Lord with everything you have. My story is nothing without the threads of His grace, the Truth of His gospel, and the reality of His faithfulness woven all throughout.
I’ve sat listening to our 12th song on repeat for the last 10 minutes, staring at a blinking cursor, wondering what words the Lord would have me share with you. As I let the rhythm of the music and the lyrics wash over me, I know I can’t say it any better than Steffany already has. I agree wholeheartedly with every single word she sings, I long for this to be the anthem of my life.
In preparation for this month’s email, I’ve listened to this song all throughout the day for the last few. Yesterday, I played it on our kitchen speaker and sang it to our foster daughter. Tears filled my eyes as I held her bright gaze the entire song.
If I have anything to give her, any legacy to leave the ones God asks us to care for, I pray it would be this: No one has ever cared for me like Jesus. All my treasure was in Heaven, and He was everything to me.
I haven’t always felt this Truth the way I’ve fought to always believe it. Some seasons are far easier than others to let my life sing something like this. But my ever changing circumstances don’t change Christ’s steadfast love. They’ll never change what He did on the cross and continues to do for us.
As we watch the lights dim on 2024 and our hearts fill with dread or eager anticipation for what 2025 may hold, may we cling to Jesus.
For those who have drifted or feel far - He is not. He is nearer than your next breath as you call our for Him.
For the ones who need a fresh filling - may you bravely ask Him for it today.
For the ones who need an anthem to sing loudly and boldly - here it is.
No one has ever cared for us like Jesus, friends. May we have eyes and hearts to see all the ways He is Love today.
