Step Into Your Life
Let us grow year to year, develop an increased desire for more, and live excited about what God is doing in us. He works through us to impact and influence the Kingdom for His glory.
Let’s approach our lives with vigor and purpose, seeking meaning and more. Meaning for motivation and more than we can conjure up on our own. You can achieve this. God is present in the process.
Just as Deep Work equipped me with renewed focus and determination, may you flourish in managing your calendar rather than feeling overwhelmed by the demands of your time.
Our mindset is crucial as we engage in a new year to evaluate our obstacles and options for personal growth. Our perceptions of what we can do and what we actually do significantly influence our progress.
When caring for our mindset, what we think and how we manage those thoughts matter. Thinking about doing something doesn’t accomplish the work but certainly encourages the process. And we all appreciate a bit of encouragement along the way.
Can I get an “Amen!”?
The Word of the Lord addresses our mindset. Unfortunately, if we are not prepared, we become more captivated by a motivational mindset than a God-centered obedience. While we readily recognize God as the creator of our mind, we often admit that our flesh sometimes influences the message of our mind more than God does. With our chins down, we quietly acknowledge that our thoughts might be uncontrolled and seemingly undisciplined.
So, what can you do?
Our mindset becomes essential as we declutter and sort through our lives, distinguishing what aligns with God’s purpose from what contradicts it. Personal growth in a new year can be hampered when we disregard the value of processing how to move forward.
Forward motion signifies growth. No motion results in the status quo. Backward motion is unproductive.
Are you experiencing forward momentum approaching the third month of this new year? Do you find yourself stagnant, with no movement in either direction? Or do you sense that your personal growth is regressing rather than progressing?
We must step into our lives to discover where we want to go and how to get there. Remember, personal growth demands intentional focus and surrendered obedience. Rinse and repeat. With the discipline to surrender our plans, we witness growth through the power of the Spirit.
I acknowledge that this may sound like an obvious statement, but to be completely transparent, COVID-19 placed me in the uncomfortable position of hovering over the status quo. Until I received Cal Newton’s suggestions, I struggled to find a way to get my wheels turning again. However, a defining moment can ignite the desire to take a first step, make one decision, or commit to a single action.
Do you long for that defining moment? Are you fulfilled with your current routine? Or are you hovering over the status quo, uncertain about how to experience more?
Hovering isn’t typically present in every aspect of our lives. We rarely find ourselves stagnant in all areas.
This is why personal growth can be complex. We may advance in certain parts of our lives without realizing that other areas have not experienced significant growth for some time.
Where in life are you making efficient progress? You have established discipline. You consistently thrive in this area. You approach this space with confidence and reliability.
Now, where in your life are you stuck in the status quo? You have drifted from your vision for growth. While you occasionally succeed, you lack the momentum to move forward more consistently. You engage with your vision so infrequently that when you do, you find it challenging to regain the rhythm of your routine.
As we enter a new year, our mindset matters. Identifying our options and obstacles is crucial for each significant moment of growth. This mindset remains essential as we seek to understand God’s purpose and plan. As followers of Christ, we are created for meaningful moments that reflect God’s glory through the Holy Spirit, not mediocrity.
May I ask, “What are you waiting for?”
Let’s take a moment to consider where to begin as we move forward. God has generously granted us another year of life. Therefore, let’s appreciate each day by focusing on opportunities and engaging in life to witness the Kingdom's influence and impact on others.
Your mindful approach to life conveys God's power to a lonely and hurting world. Actions speak louder than words. Until next month, let’s take one step forward in one area to grow intentionally.

Lisa’s Book Recommendations from her 2024 Personal Growth:
Through experience, I have realized the joy of listening to books, not just holding them. Authors mentor you from your car's cabin, on an evening stroll, or even when you clean your house.
Be intentional with the author and their message and if the author resonates with you, purchase their book for more time with their message. Many can be found at your public library in Hoopla or Libby.
This list is neither exhaustive nor meant to be an assignment in the coming month. These titles are simply a few gems I experienced last year, and I hope one takes you deeper still in personal growth this month.
