But you belong to God, my dear children.

You have already won a victory over those people,

the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

1 John 4:4 (NLT)

Satan throws. You pick it up and throw it back. He throws it again. You pick it up and throw it back again. The battle goes on and on. With each throw there is an insult, lie, or deception aimed right for your heart and mind.

He comes close, but never close enough to make contact. The breeze from His throws brushes your cheek. But because the Word of God is hidden in your heart, you are able to jump out of harm’s way each time.

Dodgeball with Satan.

Satan plans his attacks. He looks for his target’s weak spot. He tirelessly attempts to nail the ones who seem to maneuver out of harm’s way just in the nick of time. They’re a challenge but they don’t deter him from continually coming.

Dodgeball with Satan.

When playing dodgeball with Satan, remember that the One who lives in you has already won the victory for you. Every. Single. Time! Through His Word and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit your game is impenetrable, indestructible and incredibly strong.

You don’t have to move out of the way just in the nick of time. You don’t have to stand there and take it as he beams you with cheap shots. He throws loneliness at you! He throws discouragement at you! He beams not enough at you! He beams fear at you! He pelts shame and guilt at you!

Beam your own shots back at him. Shots empowered by the Holy Spirit of the Living God!

  1. Speak the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ
  2. Breathe the Word of God’s promises
  3. Shout with confidence, “My victory has been won! All praise unto Jesus Christ!”

Let’s take back our thoughts. Let’s armor up for this ultimate dodgeball battle. Let’s not receive his cheap shots. Let’s scream, “Not today Satan! You’re messing with the wrong one. I’m a child of the King of kings!”

Remember, our battle is not with flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Armoring yourself against Satan’s strategically fired shots is Living Deeper Still.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable,

and right, and pure,

and lovely, and admirable.

Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:8 (NLT)
