Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.
Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
Ephesians 5:15–16 (NLT)
Our thoughts lead to our behaviors and our behaviors can lead us away from God if our eyes aren’t fixed on heaven and we aren’t seeking Him before all else. We must take every thought captive so that we don’t live foolishly so that others may be drawn to seek our Savior.
Use the following truths from the Word of God to make the most of every opportunity:
- Fix your eyes on heaven. Romans 12:2 (The Message) Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
- Seek His kingdom first. Matthew 6:33 (NLT) Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
- Take every thought captive. 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV84) We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
We say God can have every part of us, yet, there are areas of our lives that have nothing at all to do with Godliness or holiness. Godliness and holiness need to permeate every area of our lives – our conversation, our goals, our hobbies. Every part of our lives should move us toward the image of God. (Genesis 1:27)
And finally, refrain from looking at how others live to determine your life. Fix your eyes on Heaven, seek Him first and take every thought captive to carefully live like the wise in these evil days.
Carefully living like the wise in these evil days is Living Deeper Still.
