Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,
and in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.
Psalm 51:6 (NIrV)
This verse is on a Pinterest board under My son and me – if I had such a board. Depending on the situation, I share this verse as a verbal reminder, a prayer over his heart, or with gentle instruction to my son.
Do you have a verse from your childhood? Do you have a verse you faithfully pray for one of your children? I know Mom would have pinned Proverbs 15:1 on her My Daughter and Me board – if Pinterest had been around in 1981.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1 (NASB)
Mom may have prayed this verse for my tongue. But because mom spoke Proverbs 15:1 each time I stirred up anger with my harsh words, it has been committed to my memory. I am grateful because it’s hiding God’s Word in our hearts that keeps us from sin. Believe in the power of His Word.
Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11 (NASB)
I want to know the truth. I want my kids to know the truth. The truth is what sets us free, praise God! Do you have a truth from God’s Word committed to memory that when spoken it sets you free from a sin ready to trip you up? [Hebrews 12:1]
You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
John 8:32 (NASB)
Living Deeper Still in God’s Truth requires action:
Seek the truth for your innermost being
Know the truth for your innermost being
Speak the truth from the overflow of your innermost being
Seeking the truth, knowing the truth and speaking the truth equips you and me in Living Deeper Still.
